This extension to a school had predominantly south facing windows near to the coast at Whitley Bay. Dearnleys were asked to provide an external solar shading solution to minimise summer heat gain.
Dearnleys proposed the Astralux System 7000 Markisolette awnings. These external solar shading systems were motorised and operated as a group by wireless control in each classroom.
To provide added protection an anemometer was installed to continuously monitor wind speed and retract the awnings if this exceeded acceptable levels.
On this site the hardware of the awnings were powder coated to match the window frames.
In total 20 nbr systems were installed.
