Morrisons Supermarkets
The floor to ceiling glazing in this supermarket caused excessive glare for the check-out operators and customers waiting to be served.
Dearnleys proposed the Astralux system 3000 roller blind to control the amount of light entering the space. The blinds were lined up with the window mullions and a neat headbox, one spanning two windows, ensured the blinds were almost imperceptible when full retracted.
The blinds were electrically operated with the motor fully contained in the barrel of the blind. Radio controlled switching was used with all blinds operated as a group to preserve elevational consistency. A intermediate stop position was set to ensure the blinds only deployed to cover 40% of the glazing as this solved the glare problem but still allowed a view into and out of the store.
