Heathrow Terminal 4
This glazed rooflight provided natural light to a bank of check-in desks below but excessive glare was experienced on the computer screens by the check-in operatives.
Given the path of the sun the problem of glare was experienced at different times of the day throughout the year so an adjustable blind system was required.
Dearnleys proposed the Astralux 6000 louvre blind fitted externally to the rooflight and controlled by solar sensors.
Set to site conditions these solar sensors continuously monitor light levels and automatically adjust the position of the louvres to ensure the harvesting of natural light but removing the incidence of glare.
