Barwani Penthouse
The addition of a summer house to a penthouse suite afforded commanding views over the London skyline but solar gain and glare were problematic due to the amount and angle of the glass.
Dearnleys proposed the Astralux system 5000 tensioned roller blind system which travelled up from floor level covering the vertical and sloping glazing. In this installation it was possible to cover the entire front facade with one blind but there was a requirement from the client to use multiple systems.
The fabric used on this solar shading system was designed to reduce solar gain and control glare but still provide a view through to the outside.
The blinds were electrically operated and controlled via wireless (radio controlled) switches.
