Civic Hall Gets Dearnleys Treatment

26 May 2017

The new Civic Offices and Council Chambers in Doncaster required two specific blinds systems, shading to the windows and to a large atrium.

The proposal from Dearnleys was to use the same operating system for the vertical as well as the sloped glazing, roller blinds.

For the windows and curtain walling Dearnleys supplied and fitted their Astralux 3000 roller blind system complete with flame retardant shading and black-out materials. These blinds were motorised with simple control via a radio controlled handset. In the Council Chambers the operation of the blinds was controlled by light sensors to stop interrupting meetings when the blinds needed to be lowered.

The atria glazing was shaded using Astralux 5000 tensioned roller blind system which is specifically designed to cope with the extreme conditions typical in atria spaces. Dearnleys are one of the UK’s most experienced installers of atria shading and ensured this project was designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned perfectly.
