Big blinds for Biggar Primary

2 Jul 2016

This new primary school is part of a £800m investment by South Lanarkshire Council into upgrading and developing its school buildings.

Built over three floors this school benefits from extensive natural ventilation, photovoltaic panels to provide the school with free electricity and LED lighting throughout. This all contributes to the school achieving an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

Dearnleys provided an equally essential energy saving and comfort measure to all teaching and activity spaces in the form of Astralux 3000 rollers blinds. Fitted with flame retardant fabric to help control heat and light gains a total of 117 blinds were fitted on schedule and on budget.

Most of the blinds were manually operated with a side chain mechanism fitted with a compliant child safety device. Sixteen motorised blinds were installed to high level windows in the sports hall with operation by radio controlled switches.

In addition Astralux room darkening blinds and vertical blind systems were supplied and fitted where required.
